Glen Anderson - Chief Operating
Officer
Glen was most
recently in investment banking with Oppenheimer & Co. in New
York and prior with Jefferies & Co. in San Francisco,
focused on telecom, networking and media. Prior to his career in
investment banking, Glen worked in the commodity trading business
in New York, the venture capital industry in Europe and the hedge
fund industry in Chicago.
Glen has been
close to technology his entire career beginning as an engineer in
Motorola's mobile devices business, supporting the design of
revolutionary products such as the Motorola StarTAC and the Multiple
Application Phone - the world's first "smart-phone". He has been a
technology consultant to Lehman Brothers, the New York Stock
Exchange and Midway Games, and consultant to Sprint Wireless and
Comcast, among others in technology and organizational strategy.
Glen holds a
B.S. Magna Cum Laude in Engineering, and an MBA with Honors from The
University of Chicago. Glen holds series
7, 24, 63, 79, 86 and 87 FINRA securities licenses.
Robert Yamashita - Managing Director -
Innovation Services
Mr. Yamashita is
a Co-Founder of Cogentic Advisors. He drives Cogentic's engagements
in M&A analyses, mobile ecosystem development, and digital media
technology strategy and has led such initiatives for several major
Hollywood studios, large CE companies and various technology
startups.
Prior to
co-founding Cogentic, Mr. Yamashita was most recently V.P. of
Strategy and Business Development for THX Ltd., a technology
licensing and professional services company spun off from Lucasfilm.
During his time at Sony, Robert was one of the original founders of
the Pro-MPEG Forum, an industry consortium of over 90 broadcasters
and equipment OEMs working to advance interoperability in the
professional broadcast industry. Specializing in monetizing
technology IP since 1995, representative examples of his work
include leading the team that drove DivX into CE (helping to power
their IPO in 2006 for over $600M); establishing alliances that
created the world’s first networked DVD player in 2002, and
launching a new global video format while at C-Cube (1998).
Mr. Yamashita
has over 21 years in strategy, business development, alliance
management and management consulting with Sony,
PricewaterhouseCoopers, DivX, and several semiconductor companies.
He also has extensive experience with international standards
organizations, including MPEG, IEEE, SMPTE, and others – along with
a lengthy publication and speaking history in areas including new
media business models, video compression, digital rights management,
media processing and management technologies, DSP, and advanced IC
architectures.
Mr. Yamashita
holds a B.S. with Honors from the California Institute of Technology.
Kelli Richards - Managing
Director - Incubation Services
Ms. Richards
specializes in strategic partnerships & alliances, content
acquisition, brand strategy and campaign development, event
production, new business model deployment for A-List musicians,
disruptive innovative technology companies, and established CE and
media companies.
Most recently,
Ms. Richards spent 10 years at Apple, spearheading and driving their
music and entertainment initiatives. She also worked with Silicon
Graphics (SGI) in their Entertainment Marketing group; with EMI
Music (A&R executive), and at Guitar Player Publications earlier in
her career. During her consulting career, her clients have included
Apple, Motorola, Sony, Philips, Virgin Mobile, PassAlong Networks,
Orb Networks, Todd Rundgren, and Triumph.
Ms. Richards is
acknowledged as an early pioneer in digital music. For the past two
decades, she has also been an acclaimed producer of projects and
events including: MB-5, Tribute to Paul McCartney CD, California
Music Awards (formerly the BAMMIES), Webby Awards, the Pollstar
Awards, and many others. She has co-authored two books – "The Art of
Digital Music: 56 Artists, Visionaries & Insiders Reveal Their
Creative Secrets” (2005), and "Creating Business Breakthroughs You
Want: Secrets and Strategies of the World's Greatest Mentors"
(2004). A frequent panel moderator and speaker at digital media
conferences, Ms. Richards is an expert advisor to the media on
digital music and entertainment, artist-related issues, and
integrated brand entertainment.
Ms. Richards
holds an MBA with an emphasis in marketing, and a BA in
marketing/filmmaking from San Jose State University, and she is also
a Certified Life Coach.
Robert Dolan - Managing Director
- Investment Services
Mr. Dolan has
over 35 years of experience in the capital markets with emphasis on
derivatives products. He currently raises capital for hedge fund
managers and arranges equity and debt financing for ventures and
commercial real estate projects, as well as being an intermediary for international
commodity trading.
Mr. Dolan joined
Lehman Brothers in 1973 and was relocated to Chicago in 1975 where
he was the senior broker and the head of Lehman Brothers CBOE
operations. In 1979, his responsibilities were increased to include
all commodity floor operations outside of New York. Mr. Dolan was
Executive Vice President and Director of Chicago Markets and
Operations. In 1989 he was relocated to Tokyo where he was the
Managing Director and was responsible for stock index arbitrage,
creating and selling commodity funds and equity hedge funds. In 1992
Mr. Dolan returned to Chicago where he was the head of proprietary
trading. For the next several years, he was third party marketing US
based alternative investment products in to Switzerland, London and
Tokyo.
In 1997, Mr.
Dolan became COO of International Equity Trading where he ultimately
raised $500 million for Hedge Funds in the arena of global macro
strategy. Following 2001 he became the President of Dolan Capital Advisors where he
created and modeled a quantitative trading program. In 2005 he
abandoned the trading program to focus on life settlements, third
party marketing , commercial real estate and international
commodities. Over the course of his career, Mr. Dolan has raised
over $1.5 billion dollars for various new ventures and hedge funds. Mr. Dolan is Series 3,7, 63
and 79 licensed.
Johney
Kim - Director – Asian Region
Mr. Kim has been
working in the consumer electronics and technology licensing
business for over 20 years. From 1989 to 2005, Mr. Kim held various
management roles at Samsung Electronics. His responsibilities
included market research, product development, technology
outsourcing, sales channel development, business management, and
marketing for CE products..
Johney has been
engaged in consulting in invention monetization and patent
strategies since 2007, and helped many Asian companies to
successfully monetize their intellectual property. He has also been
quite successful in identifying M&A exits and IP-acquisition
opportunities for IP-based start-up ventures and has helped many of
these companies source investment capital from global major
financial and strategic investors. Mr. Kim also has deep experience
in business relations and markets in both Asia and North America.
Mr. Kim earned
postgraduate qualifications in Marketing and Business from Samsung
Institute Management & Technology.
Jeff Marshall - Director -
Technology Vertical
Mr. Marshall
specializes in strategic customer acquisition, global alliance
development, sales and operational guidance. He has worked 20+ years
in a leadership capacity for technology companies that enable
organizations across their entire enterprise on a SaaS and wireless
platform. Mr. Marshall's primary focus has been to help CFO’s design
strategies to improve their working capital and lower their risk
profile both internally and across their supply chain.
Over Mr.
Marshall's career he has worked in leadership roles for companies
such Oracle, Deloitte Consulting, AlterEgo Networks, Manugistics,
Parson Consulting, FieldCentrix. He helped clients deploy
technologies and strategies for Business Intelligence, CRM and ERP
services and applications. As a result Jeff has developed strong
relationships within the banking sector that help start ups,
secondary growth as well as disposition and acquisition scenarios.
Mr. Marshall's
clients are in sectors such as industrial, consumer, financial
services, banking. Examples are Rockwell, S.C. Johnson, Bank One,
Allstate, Winnebago, Valspar, First Bank of Delaware.
Mr. Marshall is
very civic-minded and is active with the Chicagoland Chamber of
Commerce and coaches youth hockey teams. He has a BBA from Iowa
State University.
David Goldsmith - Director -
Media Vertical
Mr. Goldsmith is
an experienced broadcast, film and TV executive with over 25 years
in the Hollywood Entertainment community. He supervised or produced
hundreds of hours of programming including “Shogun,” “Max Headroom,”
“Perfect Strangers,” and “She’s The Sheriff,” and as senior
manager/creative affairs specialist, headed up programming
operations for Grant-Tribune Productions, Lorimar Television,
Gaylord Productions, Chuck Fries Productions, Paramount Television
and MGM Television.
Most recently,
Mr. Goldsmith was GM of the IPTV initiatives for DAVE Networks,
leading content licensing and aggregation initiatives with
Hewlett-Packard, as well as developing business in Social
Networking. Mr. Goldsmith works with traditional entertainment and
media companies to re-purpose content for new digital distribution
platforms, as well as advises clients on content deployment and
monetization strategies. Examples of his work include content
distribution and monetization programs across a vast array of
digital media platforms including VOD, IPTV, Mobile and IP
Broadband, P2P, and interactive TV, as well as Digital Signage
networks that address the Digital Out-Of-Home market.
Mr. Goldsmith
earned his Juris Doctor (JD) law degree from Southwestern University
School of Law and his BS degree from USC’s Marshall School of
Business. He is a Founding Member on the Board of Directors for two
national non-profits, the Entertainment Industries Council and The
End Hunger Network. His active professional memberships include WGA,
PGA, NATPE, ATAS, Digital Hollywood, iTV Alliance, and DCIA.
Adam Boris - Director - Telecom
Vertical
Mr. Boris has
held executive roles in several venture-funded startups, bringing
award-winning, innovative technology to the marketplace in consumer
electronics and wireless services and leading operations growth for
customer service, sales operations, IT infrastructure, and national
market rollout. Mr. Boris has extensive experience with
intellectually property, market analysis, and contract negotiation.
Among Mr. Boris
experiences are that of SVP of operations at DBS Communications a
$60M MVNO which Adam personally helped secure funding for from
Sierra Ventures, Silicon Valley Bank, and local VC firms. Mr. Boris
has also served in interim executive roles at high-growth companies,
including interim VP of Operations for Polaris Wireless, a $30M
provider of LBS technologies for wireless operators and COO at
TLeMaz, an early stage Hispanic MVNO. Formerly, Adam led the
technology development, digital network deployment, and capital
investment strategy for Ameritech Cellular (now Verizon), and held
senior roles at Motorola and Northrop.
Mr. Boris
received a Masters in Electrical Engineering with Honors from the
University of Illinois and an MBA from Kellogg GSB at Northwestern
